Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating the ‘Future Society Career Experience’ education program to provide various career exploration opportunities for youth.

Professional educational institutions visit schools to conduct 100-minute classes. After providing theoretical lectures on future society careers, students gain experience and understanding through practical exercises. It is a great opportunity to explore promising fields early and receive help in career planning.

There are 61 detailed programs available. Students can experience future new jobs such as artificial intelligence experts, robotics engineers, drone developers, automotive engineering technicians, virtual space designers, and astronomy researchers. The program also includes occupations reflecting social issues like urban regeneration, climate crisis, and alternative energy, attracting attention.

The practical exercises consist of making activities and presentations. Students create robots, Bluetooth speakers, autonomous vehicles, 3D animations, and more using scientific principles. There are also sessions where students become forensic investigators to solve crime cases or use artificial intelligence to create artworks.

Until December 13, the program will visit 8 middle schools and 5 high schools. Based on a prior demand survey, 84 classes have been selected, with 2,035 students expected to participate. Last year, 2,526 students from 11 schools took part.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We operate career experience programs to provide beneficial and enriching experiences for students who are the future leaders,” adding, “We hope this helps them set the right academic direction and nurture wonderful dreams.”
