Universities Join Ministry of Education’s Advanced Innovation Convergence Program
Government Funding Projects Secured in Succession
Sangmyung University is gaining attention for nurturing convergence talents who will lead the fields of future advanced technologies.
According to the university on the 23rd, Sangmyung University is participating in the Ministry of Education's Advanced Field Innovative Convergence University Project. Sangmyung University has formed a consortium with seven other universities to foster digital technology talents in the biohealth and intelligent robotics sectors.
Sangmyung University specializes in smart mobility and rehabilitation and healthcare robotics, and in the biohealth field, it operates a self-designed open semester system that allows students to choose their own courses.
In addition, an educational system has been established to allow students to complete new technology field curricula regardless of their major.
To respond to the growing demand for talent in new industries due to changes in the industrial structure in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, new advanced departments in new industries have also been established.
Advanced departments include the Department of Intelligent and Data Convergence on the Seoul campus; AR/VR Media Design in the College of Design, AI Media Content in the College of Arts, Green Smart City in the College of Convergence Technology, and AI Mobility Engineering in the College of Engineering on the Cheonan campus.
Sangmyung University provides all freshmen with major-tailored software education based on computational thinking.
Sangmyung University is recognized for its outstanding educational capabilities by winning various government-funded projects, such as the Software-Centered University Project, the University Job Plus Center Project, and support projects for specialized graduate schools nurturing green convergence experts leading the Green New Deal.
In particular, since 2015, it has been operating employment support projects funded by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and last year, it received the highest grade for two consecutive years in the performance evaluation of the University Job Plus Center Project.
This year, it received the highest grade in the second-year performance evaluation of the second cycle University Innovation Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
