The Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 23rd that it held a kickoff meeting for the 'Seoul City Small and Medium Enterprise Industry-Specific Specialized Serious Accident Response Consulting Support Project' together with small and medium enterprise cooperatives from four industries at the SME DMC Tower in Mapo-gu.
This project was prepared to support the majority of small and medium enterprises experiencing confusion on-site following the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act. In collaboration with Seoul City, the SME cooperatives, which are representative organizations by industry, will lead the serious accident consulting, and support the production and distribution of customized serious accident response manuals and guidelines considering the characteristics of each industry.
At the meeting, representatives from the selected participating cooperatives attended, including ▲ Kim Young-seok, Chairman of the Seoul Gyeongin Ready-Mixed Concrete Industry Cooperative, ▲ Kim Yoon-jung, Chairman of the Seoul Printing Information Industry Cooperative, △ Choi Sung-kyu, Chairman of the Seoul Gyeonggi Northern Elevator Cooperative, and ▲ Kim Dong-sik, Chairman of the Seoul Glove Industry Cooperative. The agenda included presentations on industry-specific serious accident response consulting plans and sharing the role of cooperatives and directions for project promotion to strengthen serious accident response capabilities.
The attendees agreed that cooperatives would serve as a focal point to encourage active participation of member companies through sharing excellent safety management cases and providing serious accident prevention education.
Park Seung-chan, head of the Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, “Although the application of the Serious Accident Punishment Act has been expanded this year to workplaces with 5 to fewer than 50 employees, small and medium enterprises find it difficult to respond individually due to a lack of dedicated personnel and budget. We expect that the consulting support project through cooperatives will greatly help improve safety and prevent accidents in small and medium enterprises.”
