HMM is participating in a program that recycles waste electrical and electronic equipment.
On the 23rd, HMM announced that it had signed a business agreement the day before with 'E-Sunhwan Governance,' an electronic product recycling mutual aid association, for 'E-Waste Zero, a resource circulation for waste electronic products.'
Accordingly, HMM will participate in E-Sunhwan Governance's 'Modubium, ESG Sharing' resource circulation program in the future. HMM has already donated about 1,000 waste electronic products and plans to practice ESG (environment, social, governance) management by recycling waste electrical and electronic products generated in offices and business sites.
E-Sunhwan Governance is a non-profit mutual aid association approved by the Ministry of Environment that establishes a resource circulation cooperation system by partnering with companies and institutions participating in ESG value realization. Participating companies are issued Scope 3 greenhouse gas reduction certificates. Scope 3 is an indicator that refers to carbon emissions generated throughout the entire supply chain, from logistics and distribution to product use and disposal, in addition to product manufacturing.
An HMM official stated, "Following existing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas reduction activities such as the introduction of eco-friendly fuels and advancement of navigation technology, we plan to expand the scope to Scope 3 and do our best to achieve '2045 Net Zero (zero greenhouse gas emissions).'"
On the 22nd, representatives from both companies attending the signing ceremony of the 'E-Waste Zero, ESG Management Practice Business Agreement' at HMM Yeouido headquarters are taking a commemorative photo. (Photo by HMM)
