2492-Carat Diamond Discovered in Botswana, Africa

On the 21st (local time), Canadian mineral company Lucara announced the discovery of a diamond weighing 2,492 carats (498.4g) in Botswana, Africa.

According to Lucara, the diamond was found at the Karowe mine located in Botswana. The Karowe mine is about 430 km north of Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. This diamond is one of the largest rough diamonds ever mined.


William Lamb, CEO of Lucara, said, "We are very pleased to have discovered this remarkable diamond," adding, "This discovery will strengthen the Karowe mine as a world-class diamond mine and will continuously drive our operational and underground development strategies."
