Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that the 2nd “Cheongnyangni General Market Moonlight Outing” festival, hosted by the Cheongnyangni General Market Merchants Association, will be held on the 24th from 1 PM to 10 PM.

This event, held to revitalize the Cheongnyangni traditional market and create a cultural and artistic space, will take place in the parking lot within Cheongnyangni General Market (a 2-minute walk from Exit 1 of Cheongnyangni Station).

This year’s Moonlight Outing festival pre-event will run from 1 PM to 5 PM. The lineup includes band performances from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Seoul Campus and Dongdaemun-gu Youth Center, as well as a wind instrument performance by the Merchants Association performance team.

After the opening ceremony at 5 PM, performances by singer Shin Seung-tae, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies clubs, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies World Traditional Dance, singer Lee Jjana Eonjjana, and singer Noh Ji-hoon will continue until 10 PM.

During the performances, there will be prize draws, a beer drinking contest, and an impromptu dance contest to encourage resident participation. Around the stage, food booths run by the market merchants association and food trucks will be set up, allowing visitors to enjoy various foods along with refreshing beer.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “In this unusually hot summer, I hope all generations in the community come together to create joyful memories on summer nights,” adding, “We will strive to continuously hold festivals that highlight the unique characteristics of the region.”

The Moonlight Outing festival was held for the first time last year. It aimed to transform Cheongnyangni General Market from a simple ‘traditional market’ into a ‘commercial cultural space’ that resonates with younger generations as well.
