The Namhae International ESG Art Festival Promotion Committee announced on the 20th that it held a launching ceremony on the 17th at Uju Chongdongwon in Mulgeon-ri, Samdong-myeon, Namhae-gun.

Held for the first time this year, the Namhae International ESG Art Festival will take place around Mulgeon-ri village by the beautiful Namhae seaside and the German Village, a representative tourist destination of Namhae.

At the launching ceremony, officials from the Namhae International ESG Art Festival Promotion Committee, participating artists, local residents, and guests attended to introduce detailed plans for the event and wish for its success.

Mulgeon-ri in Samdong-myeon, Namhae, is a Bangjorim village shaded by forest darker than the indigo sea, a place where the beauty of nature and history breathe. Located on the east side of Namhae Island, the national fishing port Mulgeon Port and a 1.5 km coastal area are adorned with a magnificent semi-circular forest of over 10,000 lush trees aged more than 350 years.

Behind the village, the German Village, created by Namhae-gun, is quaintly situated, creating a harmonious landscape of human touch and natural aesthetics. Mulgeon-ri, which adapts to nature while continuing the village’s traditions and history, evokes deep aesthetic contemplation within a scenery where the grandeur of nature and human creativity blend.

At this year’s Namhae International ESG Art Festival, domestic and international artists will reinterpret the Mona Lisa in an exhibition at Mulgeon Middle School. Artworks will be displayed at various village spots including the German Village area, T?bingen, Perfect Life, Peritz, Mime Pension, Uju Chongdongwon, Eoburim, the village hall, warehouses, and Crop Cafe, providing visitors with the fun of exploring and viewing.

In particular, the Mona Lisa exhibition will start with the Namhae International ESG Art Festival and then tour Beijing, China; Tokyo, Japan; and even the Americas by 2025.

The Namhae International ESG Art Festival will also host an international forum discussing the global issue of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance). At the forum, ESG experts from home and abroad will discuss ▲Why ESG is necessary ▲The impact of ESG on regional economic development ▲The global spread of ESG and the role of K-content.

Additionally, the festival plans to introduce ESG cases from Bhutan, the Himalayan kingdom known as the land of happiness and seclusion.

On-site, Kim Deok-su, the master and founder of Samulnori, will perform Samulnori in the German Village and Mulgeon-ri area, and a fashion show by the famous fashion designer Professor Lee Sang-bong will also be held outdoors.

The Namhae International ESG Art Festival will be held from September 13 to November 30 around Mulgeon-ri and the German Village area.
