Shin Yu-bin (20), who won two bronze medals as a national table tennis representative at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been known for her consistent good deeds since the past. Shin Yu-bin's benevolence was recently highlighted again after news broke that she donated 100 million won from her contract fee as a model for Binggrae Banana Flavored Milk to aspiring young table tennis players. Earlier, Shin Yu-bin was selected as a model for Banana Flavored Milk after her eating bananas during the Paris Olympics was caught on the broadcast, creating a buzz.

After being selected as a model, Shin Yu-bin reportedly asked Binggrae beforehand if she could donate part of her modeling fee. Since the usage of the fee is entirely up to the model once paid, Binggrae was puzzled, but Shin Yu-bin's side explained that she was worried that donating the fee immediately might diminish the advertising effect and cause inconvenience.

On the 2nd (local time), at the South Paris Arena in Paris, France, during the women's singles semifinal match of table tennis at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Shin Yubin of Korea entered and greeted the audience.

Regarding the donation destination, she also asked if it was possible to coordinate to consider Binggrae’s position, and Binggrae replied that it was up to Shin Yu-bin’s wishes and there was no need for coordination. Furthermore, although the press release on the 16th stated that she donated a 'part' of the modeling fee, Binggrae explained that she donated a 'significant' portion rather than just a 'part.' The 100 million won donated by Shin Yu-bin to the Korea Elementary School Table Tennis Federation will be used to support overseas training expenses and performance improvement for elementary school players.

Called 'God Yu-bin' Among Fans for Her Consistent Good Deeds

Shin Yu-bin is nicknamed 'God Yu-bin' among table tennis fans for her consistent good deeds. At age 16, upon receiving her first salary, she donated 53 pairs of sneakers (worth about 6 million won) to a child welfare facility in her hometown, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. In August 2021, she donated 80 million won to Ajou University Hospital for pediatric and adolescent patients.

In June last year, after winning a silver medal at the World Championships, she donated 10 million won of her prize money to World Vision, an international relief and development NGO. The donation was used to support sanitary products for economically disadvantaged female adolescents. In October of the same year, she donated 20 million won as ‘Elderly Customized Care Sponsorship’ to Suwon City to help low-income elderly living alone.

Earlier, Shin Yubin gained attention after being seen eating a banana during the broadcast of the Paris Olympics, leading to her selection as a model for Banana Flavored Milk. The 100 million won donated by Shin Yubin to the Korea Elementary School Table Tennis Federation is planned to be used as support funds for overseas training expenses and performance improvement for elementary school players.

In April this year, she also donated 10 million won to the Jeju Community Chest of Korea to support single-parent and multicultural family youth in the Jeju area. In addition, she donated sponsorship funds and table tennis equipment to the Korea Women’s Table Tennis Federation and provided youth table tennis scholarships to the Busan Metropolitan City Table Tennis Association. After signing the contract as a model for Binggrae Banana Flavored Milk on the 16th, Shin Yu-bin expressed at the donation ceremony held at the Korea Elementary School Table Tennis Federation office, "Being able to share the love and support I received with juniors is a greater happiness for me." Shin Yu-bin participated in the mixed doubles, singles, and team events at the Paris Olympics, advancing to the semifinals in all. She won bronze medals in both the mixed doubles and team events.
