Former Agriculture and Fisheries Committee Chair vs. Vice Chair: Attention on Votes from Lawmakers in Gumi and Central Region
The election for the representative of the People Power Party negotiation group in the latter half of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council is shaping up to be a two-way race.
According to Asia Economy's coverage on the 20th, the People Power Party negotiation group in the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council will close candidate registration for the “12th Latter Half North Gyeongsang Provincial Council People Power Party Negotiation Group Representative Election” on the 27th, after which a general assembly of lawmakers will be held to elect the representative.

Currently, with the election notice already announced, Nam Jinbok (three-term, Ulleung) and Park Yongseon (three-term, Pohang) have declared their candidacies, making it likely that the competition will be a two-way race between a former Chairman of the Agriculture and Fisheries Committee and a former Vice Chairman.
With less than ten days left until the candidate registration deadline, the voting intentions of lawmakers from the central and western regions, including Gumi, have emerged as a key variable, and behind-the-scenes contacts with lawmakers from these areas are expected to intensify.
A senior figure in the local political scene commented, “While the election for the representative of the People Power Party negotiation group in the provincial council is a two-way contest between lawmakers from the eastern and southern regions, it is also significant in that it has narrowed down to a showdown between a former Chairman of the Agriculture and Fisheries Committee and a former Vice Chairman.”
Previously, during the 11th North Gyeongsang Provincial Council, an ordinance regarding the formation and operation of negotiation groups was enacted and implemented, leading to the first-ever formation of a negotiation group within the council.
