Senko announced on the 19th that its portable Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) detector ‘V-PRO’ has obtained international explosion-proof certifications IECEx and European explosion-proof certification ATEX.
V-PRO is a newly developed device by Senko that measures volatile organic compounds, pollutants contained in gases in the atmosphere including indoor air. Volatile organic compounds are representative ‘Group 1 carcinogens’ and include various harmful substances such as acetaldehyde and toluene. Continuous exposure to these substances can cause nervous system disorders and various diseases. In the environmental field, they also contribute to global warming and acid rain.
The development and utilization of photoionization sensors for measuring volatile organic compounds is technically challenging. Currently, only three companies worldwide, including Honeywell Analytics from the United States, hold international certification for portable VOC detectors and dominate the market. Recently, as industries have advanced and diversified, the use of volatile organic compounds has surged, leading to a rapid increase in demand for VOC detectors.
Senko completed the development and international explosion-proof certification of the portable VOC detector (V-PRO) following the portable dual-gas detector (Duo Tracer) in June of this year. Through this new product lineup, Senko has further strengthened its portfolio to compete with global competitors, which will be a key factor in increasing sales through major overseas distributors.
Ha Seung-cheol, CEO of Senko, stated, “Completing the product portfolio is the most important consideration for major overseas distributors, who previously sold competitors’ products, to start selling Senko products in the global market.” He added, “V-PRO is a product that can quickly contribute to increasing overseas sales, and through preparation for mass production, we will achieve noticeable results in pioneering overseas markets within this year.”
