Attack on Middle School Girl Going to School at Start of Semester
Suspected Stalking Led to Crime
Male High School Student Has History of Hospitalization After Police Persuasion
A teenage male high school student was arrested by the police for attacking a female middle school student with a blunt weapon.
According to Yonhap News, the Ansan Sangnok Police Station in Gyeonggi Province reported on the 19th that they have arrested high school student A on suspicion of attempted murder and are currently investigating. Around 8:16 a.m. that day, A struck the head of middle school student B, who was on her way to school in Sangnok-gu, Ansan City, with a blunt weapon. It is reported that he shouted, "You must die," while attacking B. A passerby who witnessed the incident subdued A, and the police who arrived on the scene arrested him in the act.
It appears that he had been stalking B regularly. Although there is no record of reports between the two, it was confirmed that A was hospitalized last month after being persuaded by the school police officer. The police stated, "It seems that A followed B and committed the crime on the first day of school that B attends," adding, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant as soon as the investigation is complete."
