Incheon Namdong-gu, Positive Response to Maternal and Newborn Health Care Support... 640 Users This Year

The maternal and newborn health care support project in Namdong-gu, Incheon is receiving positive responses.

The district announced on the 19th that as of August this year, 640 childbirth families have used the maternal and newborn health care support project. Last year, 915 people used the service.

This project involves professionally trained health care workers visiting childbirth families to support the mother's recovery and newborn care for a minimum of 5 days and up to 40 days.

The support targets childbirth families where the mother or spouse is a recipient of basic livelihood security or belongs to the near-poverty class, or where the household's combined health insurance premium out-of-pocket amount corresponds to 150% or less of the standard median income.

For the birth of the first child, support is available only if the income criteria are met, but from the second child onward, support can be received even if the income exceeds 150% of the standard median income.

Also, mothers registered as residents in Incheon can receive support for their out-of-pocket expenses by visiting the public health center or applying by mail with the required documents within 30 days after the service ends.

Park Jonghyo, mayor of Namdong-gu, said, "We will continue to make efforts not only to support maternal and newborn health care but also to promote the health of mothers and newborns and alleviate the economic burden on childbirth families through postpartum care cost support."
