[Profile] Jeon Hyun-hee, Supreme Council Member... Pro-Myeong Faction Legal Expert

On the 18th, Jeon Hyun-hee, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, was elected as a new Supreme Council member with a final vote rate of 15.88% in the 'Lee Jae-myung 2nd leadership team.'

Jeon was born in 1964 in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, graduated from Seoul National University College of Dentistry, and worked as a dentist. Later, she passed the 38th National Judicial Examination in 1996, becoming the first dentist-turned-lawyer in Korea.

She entered the National Assembly as a proportional representative of the United Democratic Party in the 18th general election. In the 19th general election, she lost the primary in Seoul Gangnam-eul, a difficult district for the Democratic Party, to Representative Jeong Dong-young. In the 20th general election, she ran in the Gangnam-eul district, considered a tough area for the Democratic Party, and was elected.

She served as the Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission under the Moon Jae-in administration and is known for resisting resignation pressure from the Yoon Seok-youl administration.

Jeon is recognized as one of the party's top legal experts and is classified as pro-Lee Jae-myung (pro-Lee) faction. She was strategically nominated and elected in the Jung-Seongdong Gap district of Seoul in the 22nd general election.

Recently, she claimed that the death of a senior official at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission was related to the closure process of allegations regarding First Lady Kim Keon-hee's luxury handbag acceptance, referring to President Yoon Seok-youl and First Lady Kim Keon-hee as 'murderers.' In response, the ruling People Power Party submitted a proposal to expel Jeon from the party.
