"Say You Put It Directly on the Mat" Perjury Instruction Too
Crime Motive Theory "To Show Off Skills"... 'Questionable'
The perpetrator in the case of the death of a 3-year-old child at a Taekwondo academy was found to have been desperate to conceal the crime, including hiding the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
The director deleted CCTV footage while the child was receiving CPR at the otolaryngology clinic... also instructed to lie under oath
On the 17th, SBS's "Unanswered Questions" reported the full story behind the death of a 3-year-old child who fell unconscious and eventually died at a Taekwondo academy in the episode titled "The Secret Hidden Behind the Prank - The Death of a 3-Year-Old at a Taekwondo Academy."
On July 12th at around 7:37 PM, Park, the director of the Taekwondo academy located directly above an otolaryngology clinic in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, rushed into the clinic carrying the child. Park told the doctor, "The child is not breathing," and the doctor immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The collapsed child was a 3-year-old boy named Ian (pseudonym). While the child was receiving CPR from the otolaryngology doctor, Park returned to the Taekwondo academy and deleted the CCTV footage. Then, he instructed instructor A, saying, "I'm going to jail. Tell the kids well," and "Tell them I didn’t put the child in upside down, but put him in properly."
At the time of the accident, even an adult male signaled "Get me out" within 2 minutes... other children also testified to signs of child abuse

Ian was left trapped upside down between rolled-up mats and suffered the accident. Park claimed there was no child abuse and that he did not intentionally cause the child's death. However, the children revealed circumstances of being assaulted, such as being wedged into mats. A 4-year-old boy B, who was close to Ian, reportedly mentioned in psychological counseling that he was afraid of Park.
The "Unanswered Questions" production team reenacted the situation where the child was left between the mats. An adult male participant who entered upside down inside the mat signaled to be taken out after 2 minutes and 26 seconds. The participant testified, "Even though I tried to breathe, it felt like there was no room to breathe."
"Why did you delete the CCTV? Why put him in the mat?"... "Because I was scared. I wanted to show that I was good."
Ian’s mother asked the incarcerated director why he deleted the CCTV footage. The director replied, "Because I was scared." When asked why he put the child upside down in the mat, he said, "I'm sorry. I wanted to show that I was good at it." Ian’s mother expressed anger, saying, "I can't accept that," and "He only says he wanted to show that he was good. Who exactly was he trying to impress?"
Meanwhile, Park was arrested and indicted on the 7th on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes (child abuse homicide). The first trial is scheduled to be held on the 27th at 10:40 AM at the Uijeongbu District Court, Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Oh Chang-seop).
Previously, Park rolled up the mats at the Taekwondo academy and left Ian trapped upside down inside for more than 20 minutes. As a result, Ian went into cardiac arrest and remained unconscious for 11 days before ultimately passing away on the 23rd of last month. Witnesses at the time of the accident testified that Ian shouted "Please save me" and "Help me," but Park continued to leave him unattended. From the time of the accident, Park has maintained that "it was a prank" and insisted that there was no intent to harm.
