Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the passing of former President Kim Dae-jung, recalled their first meeting 22 years ago and promised to "continue great politics on the shoulders of a giant."
On the 18th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "I still cannot forget the day 22 years ago when I first went to work at the Blue House as an aide to the Chief Presidential Secretary during the Kim Dae-jung administration," recalling, "On my first day, I was working late alone in the office when the phone rang, and it was President Kim Dae-jung."
He continued, "That was the first time I met a giant who thought only of the future and the people's economy," adding, "His upright thinking, profound philosophy, and meticulous policies were truly remarkable."
In particular, he said, "It was a great fortune for me to learn so much up close," and introduced, "I still have the president’s words, ‘I believed in history and the people until the very end,’ hanging in my office."
Furthermore, he expressed, "I have the resolve to continue great politics on the shoulders of a giant," and added, "(Today) marks the 15th anniversary of President Kim Dae-jung’s passing, and the great politics of reconciliation and unity he left behind, as well as politics that trust history and the people and move toward the future, are more urgently needed than ever."
