Criticism of Shin Dongwook's Remarks, Chief Spokesperson of the People Power Party
Cho Kuk, leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, voiced criticism toward the People Power Party.
On the afternoon of August 16, Cho wrote on his Facebook page, "The People Power Party tells me to leave for Manchuria or Pyongyang. How clich?d and pathetic," adding, "Are you scared? Why don't you go instead? Take a kamikaze plane to Yasukuni!" The term "kamikaze" refers to the Japanese military's suicide attack units during the Pacific War. Cho's remarks appear to imply that the ruling bloc is exhibiting pro-Japanese behavior. This was a direct response to criticism from Shin Dongwook, the People Power Party's chief spokesperson for the parliamentary floor, who had earlier issued a statement targeting Cho.
Shin, the chief spokesperson, stated, "If you truly believe we are under the rule of the Governor-General of Korea, you should immediately resign your parliamentary seat and leave for Manchuria or Pyongyang." He further criticized, "By addressing the President with the ambiguous term 'gwiha,' Representative Cho has admitted that he is unfit to serve as the leader of a legitimate political party."
He continued, "Which country's party is the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, exactly? If you call the Yoon Suk Yeol administration the Governor-General of Korea, does that mean your repeated demands for better offices in the National Assembly were acts of independence activism?" He added, "How are the people supposed to understand this bizarre situation, where you have been throwing tantrums for months just to secure better rooms in what you claim is the Governor-General's Assembly?" He also criticized Cho's remarks, saying, "This isn't speech; it is nothing but excretion. It's as if he defecated in the middle of Gwanghwamun Square."
Meanwhile, on August 15, Cho had pointed at President Yoon Suk Yeol, saying, "The person who appoints those who are like Japanese colonial informants to key positions is the kingpin informant himself," and questioned, "Are you the 20th President of the Republic of Korea, or the 10th Governor-General of Korea?"
