President Baekho Visits Gwangnaru Station on the 16th to Conduct Intensive Safety Management Inspection for Major Accident Prevention
Checks Canopy Installation Site, Urges Strict Compliance with Safety Rules and Thorough Preparation for Heatwaves and Abnormal Weather
Baekho, President of Seoul Metro, visited the construction site of Gwangnaru Station on Line 5 on the 16th to conduct an on-site safety inspection.
First, President Baekho toured the canopy installation site at Exit 2 of Gwangnaru Station to check the safety management status of the facilities and encouraged the workers who have been enduring the ongoing heatwave.
He then received a report on the planned relocation of the staff dormitory within the station scheduled for October this year and inspected the site. The dormitory was located adjacent to a CO2 fire suppression system, creating an environment that could potentially threaten the safety of resting employees.
After inspecting the site, President Baekho emphasized, "The moment we become complacent, it not only jeopardizes employee safety but also affects subway operations, causing inconvenience to citizens. Therefore, all employees must strictly adhere to work safety rules and repeatedly verify that no part is neglected."
He also stated, "To prevent serious accidents involving working employees, it is important to identify and eliminate risk factors in advance," adding, "We will thoroughly manage the sequential relocation of dormitories at 40 stations where CO2 systems and staff dormitories are adjacent by 2028, ensuring employees can work in a safe environment."
