Korean LG Energy Solution, Japanese Panasonic, and Chinese CATL Among Diverse Companies
No Separate Website, Data Disclosed to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Tesla has disclosed its electric vehicle battery manufacturers through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's website. It was revealed that batteries from various national brands, including South Korea's LG Energy Solution, Japan's Panasonic, and China's CATL, are installed.
According to the 'Electric Vehicle Battery Manufacturer Status' published on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Vehicle Recall Center website on the 16th, Tesla Model Y and Model 3 are equipped with three types of batteries: Panasonic, LG Energy Solution, and CATL. The Model X and Model S use Panasonic batteries.
Domestic and foreign automakers selling electric vehicles in Korea disclose their battery manufacturers following the Ministry's recommendation. This disclosure became necessary after concerns about electric vehicle batteries grew following the electric vehicle fire incident in Incheon on the 1st.
While most domestic and imported car manufacturers have disclosed battery manufacturer information on their own websites, Tesla revealed its manufacturers through the Ministry's data without a separate announcement on its own website.
