Dankook University Establishes Venture Startup Convergence Major... "Aiming to Foster Young CEOs"

Support for Startups in Technology, Engineering, Management, and Legal Fields

Dankook University will establish a Venture Startup Convergence Major in the College of Industry-Academia Cooperation Convergence starting this September.

The Venture Startup Convergence Major was created with the purpose of leading students to successful entrepreneurship, moving away from employment-centered career education. The major can be completed as a second major (42 credits) or a minor (21 credits) based on the student’s primary major.

The newly established major will be developed and operated through a collaboration between the Startup Education Center of Dankook University’s Startup Support Group, the Department of Business Administration in the College of Business and Economics, and the College of Engineering.

Any enrolled student interested in entrepreneurship can take the courses. Aiming to nurture young CEO talent, the curriculum includes comprehensive education on technology startups such as ▲Entrepreneurial Spirit and Startup Basics ▲Startup A to Z ▲Startup Ideas and Business Models ▲Startup Investment Attraction ▲Startup Organization and Human Resource Management ▲Intellectual Property and Patent Strategies.

The major is structured into a five-stage curriculum aligned with the startup growth phases: ▲Enhancing Entrepreneurial Spirit (Stage 1) ▲Conceptualizing Business Ideas (Stage 2) ▲Advancing Business Models (Stage 3) ▲Practical Startup (Stage 4) ▲Startup Execution (Stage 5).

The university supports startups in specialized fields such as technology, engineering, business, and law, focusing on students’ primary majors who complete the curriculum. Additionally, students can pursue graduate studies in the Department of Future ICT Convergence and Entrepreneurship, established in the general graduate school, as well as master’s and doctoral programs and the Graduate School of Information Convergence Technology and Entrepreneurship. Key instructors include venture entrepreneurs, social startup experts, and design and development professionals.

Dankook University provides multifaceted support to students, faculty, technology holding companies, and resident companies with innovative ideas. Since 2014, it has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ “Early Startup Package Global Support Specialization” program, assisting startups with excellent technologies and ideas. Furthermore, in 2024, it was consecutively selected for the “KDB Startup Education Program,” “Small Business Digital Specialization University,” “Specialized Competency BI Development Support Project,” and “Idea Commercialization Support Project.”

President An Soon-cheol stated, “Dankook University will nurture young CEOs equipped with excellent entrepreneurial spirit through top-level education, supported by field experts who will pass on accumulated startup education know-how and entrepreneurial spirit.”
