SparkLabs invests in Draftype, an AI model production studio operator

AI Self-Produced Virtual Model-Based Image Generation

SparkLabs announced on the 16th that it has completed a pre-Series A investment in Draftype, which operates an artificial intelligence (AI)-based model creation solution. Draftype operates ‘Draftype Studio,’ an online platform that allows client companies to create content necessary for business operations, from product image cuts to marketing materials, using virtual models created with AI technology.


Draftype Studio enables clients to upload images of products or brands being worn, then select AI models and detailed settings such as gaze, facial expression, and jaw direction that match their identity and needs. Based on these settings, the platform generates images with naturally altered faces and compositions.


In particular, Draftype offers exclusive contract rights for AI models suitable by gender, race, and age group at a monthly fee of around 50,000 KRW, allowing clients to save up to hundreds of millions of KRW in brand model contract costs.

With this investment, Draftype plans to introduce advanced features such as fully automated custom models and video content editing and production by next year to acquire new clients. Currently, within eight months of service launch, Draftype is used by more than 3,500 small and medium-sized sellers and large brands across various fields including fashion, beauty, and accessories.


Yujin Kim, CEO of SparkLabs, said, “We decided to invest in Draftype because it improves corporate branding and marketing processes through AI technology,” adding, “Draftype creates opportunities for startups lacking capital comparable to large brands, contributing to balanced growth in the overall industry ecosystem.”


Dahee Kim, CEO of Draftype, stated, “Draftype aims to innovate not only cost reduction but also the very way brands start and grow,” and added, “We will continuously enhance AI technology and expand various functions to help clients achieve consistent brand experiences and improved marketing efficiency.”
