On the 14th, Lee Pil-hyung, the mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, visited the War Veterans Memorial located at Jeonnong-dong Village Square (150-62 Jeonnong-dong) to carry out environmental maintenance and spent a meaningful time honoring the noble spirit of the patriotic martyrs.

Established in 2014, the War Veterans Memorial consists of the "Wall of Loyalty," engraved with the names of 4,547 war veterans, a cast sculpture symbolizing the "Unextinguishable Light of Loyalty," and a bas-relief depicting the charging scenes to reclaim strategic points and rescuing comrades.

On this day, Mayor Lee Pil-hyung, along with about 20 sanitation workers, thoroughly cleaned the memorial engraved with the names and achievements of the veterans, as well as the stairs, using water, and removed surrounding weeds. After wiping off the dust and moisture settled on the Wall of Loyalty with towels, the event concluded with a moment of silent tribute and flower offering to the patriotic martyrs and national heroes.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung stated, "The freedom and peace we enjoy today were achieved through the sacrifices and dedication of countless patriots," adding, "We will continue to properly manage the War Veterans Memorial and implement policies to improve the lives of those eligible for veterans' benefits."
