Citizens' Group for Forced Mobilization under Japanese Rule: "Yoon Did Not Mention Reflection or Responsibility... The Worst Liberation Day Speech"

The Citizens' Group for Forced Mobilization under Japanese Rule criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol's Liberation Day congratulatory speech on the 15th as the worst Liberation Day speech.

In a statement released that day, the group said, "It was the worst congratulatory speech that did not even mention Japan's reflection and responsibility," and pointed out, "Regarding sensitive issues that Japan finds uncomfortable, the president deliberately avoided mentioning them himself, and although he mentioned North Korea 33 times and unification 36 times, he did not even utter the term 'anti-Japanese resistance'."

They added, "Despite the unprecedented situation where the Liberation Association is absent from the government commemorative ceremony for the first time due to the appointment issue of the Independence Hall director, President Yoon avoided addressing it," emphasizing, "It is shameful and hard to face the anti-Japanese independence activists who devoted themselves to the liberation of the homeland."
