"If Abnormal Symptoms Occur, Prompt Response"... Tesla Withholds Battery Information

Tesla Korea, the No. 1 electric vehicle seller in the country, does not disclose battery manufacturer information but stated it will respond promptly to any abnormal symptoms.

On the morning of the 15th, Tesla Korea sent a customer notice email titled "Tesla designs vehicles with safety as the top priority."

Tesla Korea explained, "If abnormal battery symptoms are detected through the Tesla Battery Management System, customers will be notified and support such as emergency dispatch service or service center reservations can be provided. These measures aim to help prevent or minimize potential damage and ensure a swift response to abnormal symptoms."

Tesla Korea also stated, "In addition to the basic vehicle limited warranty applied to all new cars, Tesla provides a separate limited warranty for the vehicle's battery and drive unit."

This notice is interpreted as Tesla's response to the growing public anxiety about electric vehicles following the recent fire in Incheon. However, despite the government's recommendation announced on the 13th to disclose battery manufacturer information, Tesla Korea has not released related information through its website or other channels.

On the other hand, most domestic automakers including Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, as well as major imported car manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Stellantis, disclose their battery manufacturers.

In this email, Tesla Korea explained that for accident prevention purposes, "all Tesla vehicles come standard with active safety features such as automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning," and "these features are continuously improved through regular software updates."
