Yong Seok-woo, President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display (VD) Division, stated that AI screens will open up new experiences that were not possible with existing screens.

In a contribution to the Samsung Electronics Newsroom on the 15th, President Yong said, "Samsung Electronics, which has led innovation in both TV hardware and software, now aims to overcome existing limitations with AI and define the next generation of TVs."

Earlier this year, Samsung Electronics declared the 'AI TV era' by launching the 2024 Neo Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode (QLED) TV and Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TV new products in the domestic market.

The 2024 Neo QLED 8K TV is equipped with the 3rd generation AI 8K processor, the most powerful processor ever used in Samsung TVs. This processor features 512 neural networks, eight times more than its predecessor, and a neural processing unit (NPU) that is twice as fast.

It also supports the '8K AI Upscaling Pro' function, which upscales low-resolution videos to 8K quality for clearer images, and the 'Active Voice Pro' function, which detects volume differences in content and separates and amplifies voices.

President Yong predicted that AI screens will also change everyday life. He said, "AI TV will serve as a hub for AI homes in the hyper-connected era, connecting and guiding various devices, controlling necessary parts, and providing consumers with convenience, new value, and experiences."

He explained that features such as 'Calm Onboarding,' which easily connects home devices through SmartThings, and Samsung AI TV's Daily Board, which allows users to see the status of their home at a glance, will play that role.

This evolution of AI homes is expected to be driven by 'Tizen OS,' an operating system developed by Samsung Electronics.

Tizen OS, applied to Samsung TVs, is one of the world's largest TV platforms, having achieved the world's number one sales position for 18 consecutive years, and has been installed on more than 270 million Samsung smart TVs as of last year.

Samsung AI TVs equipped with SmartThings and Tizen OS connect with various AI devices without boundaries between products and service platforms, providing new services tailored to users' preferences and lifestyles.
