Gyeonggi Fire Academy Northern Campus Established in Yeoncheon for 29 Years... 49.3 Billion KRW Invested Plan for the Construction of Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Academy Northern Campus

Construction of the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy Northern Campus is underway.

On the 15th, Gyeonggi-do announced that it is promoting the construction of the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy Northern Campus in Yeoncheon-gun, aiming to open in 2029, to enhance the expertise of fire officials in the northern Gyeonggi region and to achieve balanced regional development.

The Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy Northern Campus will be located on a site of 212,541㎡ in Baekhak-myeon, Yeoncheon-gun, with a building area of 6,670㎡, consisting of four buildings: a specialized education building, a basic education building, a welfare center, and a citizen safety camp.

Advanced integrated tactical training grounds, specialized rescue and emergency practice rooms, fire training towers, fire facility practice areas, and various educational training facilities applying cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and Extended Reality (XR) will be established to facilitate training that enhances future-oriented practical response capabilities.

Additionally, a citizen participation safety education camp will be operated to provide residents of northern Gyeonggi with opportunities to receive fire safety education.

The budget for constructing the Northern Campus is 49.3 billion KRW, covering construction costs and other expenses, fully funded by the Fire Safety Special Account.

Land acquisition and design will begin in the first half of next year, with construction starting in the first half of 2026. The campus is scheduled to be completed and opened in the second half of 2029.

In particular, to respond to the climate crisis, the building will be constructed using renewable energy, and the Gyeonggi RE100 renewable energy project will also be promoted within the site.

The establishment of the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy Northern Campus is a measure in line with the ‘Gyeonggi-do-style Metropolitan Disaster Response System’ pledge of the 8th Gyeonggi-do administration.

Gyeonggi-do Governor Kim Dong-yeon emphasized, "There has only been a fire academy in Yongin, located in southern Gyeonggi, causing difficulties in the education and training of fire personnel in northern Gyeonggi. Through the construction of the Northern Campus, we will elevate the on-site response capabilities of fire officials in northern Gyeonggi to a higher level, creating an environment where residents can live more safely."
