Traces of Sabotage Operation on Government VIP Aircraft Base at Cologne Base
The fence of an air force base used exclusively by senior officials of the German federal government was breached, and traces of sabotage such as contaminated tap water were discovered.
On the 14th (local time), according to German local media including ntv, the German Federal Police and Counterintelligence Agency closed the Cologne-Bonn air force base on the outskirts of western Cologne and began an investigation by collecting samples of the base's own tap water supply. Since the fence around the base was damaged, the possibility of unauthorized intrusion is being considered.
The military authorities have instructed soldiers and staff not to drink the tap water and are controlling access to outsiders.
This base, adjacent to Cologne-Bonn Airport, is a large military facility with 4,300 soldiers and 1,200 civilian employees. The air force exclusive aircraft used by senior federal government officials is based here.
