Notice on Porsche Korea Homepage
The battery cells used in the Porsche pure electric vehicle Taycan have been identified as products from LG Energy Solution.
Porsche Korea announced this on the 14th through its official website. The battery cell information was also placed at the top of the question types in the chatbot on the website for easy access.
With this, most automobile companies have disclosed the battery manufacturers for their vehicles by trim. Volkswagen Group, which owns brands such as Audi and Volkswagen, also joined in disclosing electric vehicle battery manufacturers on the same day. It has been confirmed that all electric vehicle models sold domestically are equipped with domestic brand batteries such as LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI.
Stellantis Korea also revealed the battery manufacturer information for six models under its brands including Jeep, Peugeot, and DS Automobiles on the same day. They provided detailed battery information not only for upcoming electric vehicles but also for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.
Following the electric vehicle fire incident in Incheon on the 1st, consumer inquiries about battery manufacturers surged, leading imported car brands to follow domestic brands in announcing battery manufacturers through their websites one after another.
Including Hyundai and Kia, who proactively disclosed battery information, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, KG Mobility, Renault Korea, Volvo, and Polestar have been revealing battery manufacturer information (for currently sold and previously sold models) through their websites and phone support since the day before. Jaguar Land Rover, which has not yet disclosed this information, is also expected to announce battery manufacturer details soon.
