Choo Kyung-ho "Unforgivable Inhumane Verbal Abuse"

On the 14th, Shin Dong-wook, the senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, told reporters at the National Assembly, "The People Power Party, including floor leader Chu Kyung-ho and 108 other lawmakers, submitted a resolution urging the expulsion of former lawmaker Jeon." He added, "According to Article 25 of the Constitution, members of the National Assembly must maintain dignity as representatives of the sovereign people and have the duty to perform their duties fairly and with integrity." He continued, "However, former lawmaker Jeon, a member of the Judiciary Committee, used a parliamentary procedure speech as an excuse to utter unacceptable abusive language, insulting the people of the Republic of Korea and the President. She shamelessly made reckless remarks blaming the President and Mrs. Kim for the death of a senior official of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, which was unrelated to the agenda of the meeting."

Senior spokesperson Shin said, "Despite being a former chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, former lawmaker Jeon exploited the tragic death of a senior official as a political tool. She directed abusive language at People Power Party lawmakers who raised concerns and used extreme language, calling the President and the First Lady 'murderers.' We confirm that she has seriously violated the duty to maintain dignity as a representative of the people, lost her qualifications as a national representative institution and an independent constitutional institution, and therefore urge her expulsion."

People Power Party floor leader Chu Kyung-ho also issued a statement calling former lawmaker Jeon's remarks "an unforgivable anti-humanitarian verbal abuse" and said, "She will be held fully accountable." He pointed out, "The Democratic Party not only initiated a retaliatory impeachment against Prosecutor Kim Young-chul for investigating their party's money envelope scandal during their party convention but also held a retaliatory hearing."

Earlier, former lawmaker Jeon mentioned the death of an official from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission during a parliamentary procedure speech in the Judiciary Committee, saying, "Mrs. Kim Geon-hee killed him," which provoked strong opposition from ruling party lawmakers.
