Seominwi Files Complaint Against Democratic Party Lawmaker Jeong Cheong-rae for Abuse of Power and Defamation

"Dogmatic Behavior and Ignorance"

The Committee for the Protection of the Common People’s Livelihood (Seominwi) announced on the 14th that it has filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Cheong-rae on charges of abuse of authority and defamation.

Seominwi stated, "On June 21, during the special hearing on the Marine Corps special prosecutor law, Jeong Cheong-rae, chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, ordered three military generals who appeared to 'stop talking and apologize, stand up,' and forced them to leave for 10 minutes, which constitutes abuse of authority and defamation."

Additionally, Kim Soon-hwan, Secretary General of Seominwi, criticized, "At the impeachment hearing for President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 19th of last month, Chairman Jeong told members of the People Power Party to 'leave, I will not give you the floor,' and warned lawmaker Kwak Gyu-taek of the People Power Party, 'If you keep staring at me, I will have you removed and deny you the floor.' This is an act of arrogant behavior and habitual ignorance."
