Plantynet Reports 3.6 Billion KRW Net Profit in H1... "Securing New Growth Engines Within the Group in H2"

Plantynet announced on the 14th that it recorded a net profit of 3.67497 billion KRW on a consolidated basis for the first half of this year, an increase of 172.6% compared to 1.34821 billion KRW in the same period last year. Plantynet's overall revenue structure improved as dividend income increased due to improved performance of its overseas subsidiaries and venture capital subsidiary Albatross Investment.

Since 2024, Plantynet has been focusing on implementing an enterprise-wide artificial intelligence (AI)-centered business model. Earlier this year, it established the ‘AI Tech Lab,’ composed of AI-specialized R&D personnel, and is accelerating its evolution into an AI company by building its own sLLM (small-scale large language model). Due to these AI personnel additions and R&D investments, the operating loss on a separate basis for the first half of the year was 1.1172 billion KRW. However, the company plans to rapidly advance its existing harmful content blocking services and solutions with new technologies to enhance both competitiveness and profitability.

In particular, Plantynet expects to secure new growth momentum through its subsidiary PlantyM’s magazine subscription platform service ‘Moajin,’ launched in July. In today’s environment, where the importance of verified and refined information is emphasized more than ever due to short-form videos and sensational content, ‘Moajin,’ which provides magazines selected according to subscribers’ preferences, offers value that meets this demand. The company explained that it expects ‘Moajin’ to contribute not only to expanding domestic subscribers as a new subscription service but also to spreading refined Hallyu content through overseas subscribers.

Plantynet emphasizes that the second half of this year marks the starting point for internalizing AI capabilities to strengthen the group’s business competitiveness. A company representative stated, “By integrating AI technology to innovate services, we expect to improve profitability from the second half of the year,” and added, “We also anticipate strengthening synergy with subsidiaries by enhancing the added value of the Moajin platform through new AI-powered features such as AI interpretation and translation functions.”
