Hwaseong-si Launches Hygiene Inspections for Restaurants Registered on Delivery Apps

Hwaseong City announced on the 14th that from the 19th of this month until the 26th of next month, it will conduct hygiene inspections targeting restaurants registered on delivery apps in collaboration with consumer food hygiene inspectors.

This inspection aims to check the hygiene and safety management status of restaurants and investigate vulnerable hygiene areas due to the increase in delivery food consumption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in consumer patterns.

The inspection targets 3,660 establishments registered on delivery apps such as Baedal Minjok, Baedal Teukgeup, and Yogiyo, excluding those designated under the hygiene rating system and model restaurants. The main inspection items include ▲ compliance with food ingredient storage standards and expiration dates ▲ compliance with facility standards and operator obligations ▲ adherence to personal hygiene management ▲ potential entry of hygiene pests in the kitchen ▲ cleanliness of ventilation and air conditioning facilities ▲ separate use of knives and cutting boards and use of cooking utensils that may cause foreign substance contamination.

The city plans to provide on-site guidance for minor issues found during the inspection and conduct secondary re-education and inspections for establishments with inadequate hygiene management. Considering the increased risk of food poisoning bacteria growth due to rising summer temperatures, the city will also distribute promotional materials for food poisoning prevention during visits to establishments.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "We hope this inspection will lead to improved hygiene awareness among delivery app-registered restaurant operators and the creation of a safe food environment," adding, "We will continuously manage establishments with inadequate hygiene based on the results of the full survey to ensure the safety of delivery food."
