Hwasun County Office and Three Data Companies Including LGU+ Sign MOU
U+ to Provide Communication-Based Population Data
Hwasun County Governor: "Will Develop Policies Based on Data"
LG Uplus announced on the 14th that it will support the smart city transition of local governments by utilizing technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in collaboration with data-specialized companies.

The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "solving current issues based on urban data" the day before with Hwasun County Office, Nice Genie Data, and T Bridge Corporation. The event was attended by Gu Bok-gyu, the governor of Hwasun County, Heo Nam-kyung, head of CXM at LG Uplus, Kim Min-su, CEO of Nice Genie Data, and Park Hae-sung, CEO of T Bridge.
Through this agreement, the companies will provide consulting to improve current issues such as tourism, culture, and transportation in Hwasun County by utilizing the data each company possesses. LG Uplus will provide communication-based population data, Nice Genie Data will provide consumption and goods purchase data, and T Bridge Corporation will provide resident survey data.
Hwasun County Office will implement policies for regional development based on urban data. For example, it can hold local festivals at appropriate times based on floating population data or identify items to revitalize traditional markets using consumption data.
Previously, LG Uplus collaborated with Cheonan City to build and operate an AI-based Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and introduced a solution that analyzes commercial districts based on big data. Based on the technological capabilities secured through this project, the company plans to expand collaboration by providing urban data to various local governments in the future to streamline regional administration and enhance competitiveness.
Heo Nam-kyung, head of CXM at LG Uplus, said, "We plan to support local communities to transform into smart cities by utilizing communication-based population data owned by LG Uplus," adding, "Starting with collaboration with Hwasun County Office, we will expand cooperation with various local governments to provide differentiated experiences to local residents."
Gu Bok-gyu, governor of Hwasun County, said, "I am very pleased to sign a business agreement with three leading data companies representing our country," and added, "I hope that this agreement will serve as an opportunity to develop appropriate policies based on objective data and solve regional problems."
