Guro-gu Operates 'Smart Changjakso'... Experience 4th Industrial Technology and Healing through Woodcraft

Providing 3D Printing, VR, Drone, and Coding Experience Learning for Elementary Students Affected by Aircraft Noise
From 4th Industrial Revolution Technology Experiences to Woodcraft at Cheonwangsan Woodworking Experience Center

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) will operate the 4th Industrial Revolution experience program "Smart Workshop" for elementary school students in areas affected by aircraft noise from the 27th of this month to the 26th of next month.

The district applied for the "Smart Workshop" project in July last year during a resident-friendly project contest conducted by Korea Airports Corporation for local governments and education offices in areas affected by aircraft noise, and was finally selected, receiving a project fund of 51 million KRW.

"Smart Workshop" is a program that allows elementary school students in aircraft noise-affected areas to experience innovative 4th Industrial Revolution technologies and explore career paths related to future technologies. Along with experiencing 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, woodworking experiences are also provided to help heal the body and mind tired from aircraft noise in nature.

Earlier this year, from May to June, the district conducted a preliminary demand survey and schedule coordination targeting elementary schools in aircraft noise-affected areas?Guil Elementary School, Gosan Elementary School, Gowon Elementary School, and Deokui Elementary School?and selected a total of 505 students.

The students will experience 3D printing, VR, drones, coding, and more at the G-Valley 4th Industrial Revolution Experience Center, then move to the Cheonwangsan Woodworking Experience Center to make decorative cabinets in nature.

A Guro-gu official said, "We hope that through this program, students will develop an interest in 4th Industrial Revolution technologies and grow into talents leading the 4th Industrial Revolution," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide various programs for students."
