On the afternoon of the 13th, President Yoon Suk-yeol awarded medals to former Supreme Court Justices Kim Seon-su and Lee Dong-won, who have completed their terms, at the Freedom Hall of the Yongsan Presidential Office.
President Yoon presented the two retiring justices with the Cheongjo Geunjeong Medal by draping the orange sash (Daesu, a strap worn from one shoulder to the opposite waist) over them. He personally pinned the medal's badge on their chests.
Spouses who attended the medal ceremony were also presented with bouquets.
The Geunjeong Medal is awarded to public officials with distinguished service, and the Cheongjo corresponds to the first class.
Following this, President Yoon presented appointment letters to the newly appointed Supreme Court Justices Noh Kyung-pil, Park Young-jae, and Lee Sook-yeon, saying, "Congratulations."
The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok, newly appointed National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik, Policy Office Director Sung Tae-yoon, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Hong Cheol-ho, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Joo-hyun, and Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs Park Chun-seop, among others.
