Two Performances at Andersen Theater on the 17th, Free Admission First-Come, First-Served
Local Community Musical Featuring Military Tourist Sites
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 13th that a production presentation for the Gijang County branded musical "Sarang" will be held at the Andersen Theater in Jangan-eup, Gijang County.
The musical "Sarang" is inspired by the legend of Sirangdae, one of the eight scenic spots of Gijang, and incorporates the worldview of Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid." It is a family musical that tells the beautiful love story between "Sirang Princess" of the water world and "Miga" of the land world.
The performances will be held twice on the 17th, at 2 PM and 7 PM, with 240 seats available for each show on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is free, and reservations can be made through the Andersen Theater website.
This production presentation is an opportunity to showcase the achievements of the musical training program conducted over about four months for local residents at "Evergreen Film College," a special university established by Gijang County and Dongseo University.
So far, Gijang County has been promoting the "Evergreen Project," a win-win cooperation project in the film and video sector with Dongseo University, utilizing the human and material resources of local universities to promote cultural enjoyment and job creation in the region.
Last year, it was selected as part of the "2023~2024 Regional Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project" organized by Busan Technopark. Through this, for the first time in Korea, the full-scale production of a regionally specialized musical featuring local residents and set against major tourist attractions in the county was launched in collaboration with a local university.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, said, "Starting with this musical Sarang, we will continue to expand various cultural and tourism contents unique to Gijang County based on close cooperation with local universities."
