Over 1,000 Employees of Angajeongshim Group Visit Korea
As the large-scale corporate meetings and incentive tourism market shows signs of recovery, Chinese incentive tourists are returning to Korea.
The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 13th that it has attracted 1,030 incentive group tourists consisting of executives and employees from Anga Jeongsim Group, a bio company based in Guangdong Province, China.
This incentive group is the first group of tourists attracted through the fam tour for travel agencies in Shandong and Guangdong regions of China, conducted by the Korea Tourism Organization in June.
The Anga Jeongsim Group executives and employees, who departed from Shandong Province, China on the 11th and arrived at Incheon Port the day before, began their Korean itinerary with a welcome event arranged by the Korea Tourism Organization. They visited representative domestic tourist sites such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Blue House, and enjoyed a chicken and beer (Chimaek) party and performance held at Imjingak Peace Nuri Park.
On the same day, they visited the Korea Tourism Promotion Center Hiker Ground at Cheonggyecheon and took a tour of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and are scheduled to depart on the 14th.
The number of Chinese corporate meeting and incentive tourists attracted or supported by the Korea Tourism Organization in the first half of this year reached 26,149, an 838% increase compared to the same period last year. This has already surpassed last year’s annual performance (about 18,800 people).
Jung Chang-wook, head of the MICE division at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "We are promoting the 'Let's Meet in Korea' campaign utilizing autumn and winter content to attract incentive groups. Next month, we plan to hold MICE roadshows in Shenzhen and Hangzhou, where global IT giants such as Huawei and Alibaba have their headquarters."
The Korea Tourism Organization is promoting one-on-one customized consultations, visit schedule consulting, and support for proposal writing targeting local companies and MICE specialized travel agencies using its overseas branch network to expand the attraction of incentive groups.
In the second half of the year, besides China, there are consecutive visits by ultra-large groups such as NUSKIN (September, 5,000 people) and Herbalife Asia-Pacific branch (October, 1,800 people) scheduled.
