A Customer Who Found Hair... After Refund, Sent Back a Trash Bag in the Empty Bowl

Upon Collection and Inspection... Trash in Empty Bowls
"Food Cost, Collection Dispatch Fee, and Even Trash" Outrage

A Customer Who Found Hair... After Refund, Sent Back a Trash Bag in the Empty Bowl Photo of the container retrieved by a self-employed person who refunded the ordered food following a customer's complaint that "hair came out." [Photo source='Because It's Painful, It's the Boss' capture]

A self-employed business owner who refunded an order after a customer complained that "there was hair in the food" was left baffled upon seeing the container that was returned.

On the 11th, a story from Mr. A, who has been running a delivery store in Gangnam for five years, was posted on the online self-employed community "Because It Hurts, I'm a Boss." According to him, he received a call from a customer demanding a refund, claiming "there was hair in the food." Mr. A explained the situation, saying, "Our store staff wear hats while cooking, so the possibility of hair appearing is slim, but since the possibility is not zero, I didn’t want to argue further and just agreed to refund and collected the container."

However, Mr. A was shocked when he saw the returned delivery container. There was almost no food left inside, and it even contained trash. He wrote, "When I received the returned food bag, the customer had almost finished the food, leaving only a little broth. The delivery container in the photo is the one we took after discarding the leftover broth."

He continued, "The customer put personal trash like used tissues for wiping their mouth and even a Hetbahn (instant cooked rice), which we don’t even sell at our store, inside the container," adding, "I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it. No matter how harsh the world is, isn’t this beyond common sense?" He also warned, "Bosses operating in Gangnam, be careful when you see such delivery requests," and posted a photo.

Mr. A also pointed out issues with the delivery platform. He lamented, "When I informed them about the problematic part of the returned order and asked to cancel the refund, they said it couldn’t be canceled. I even asked to cancel the collection dispatch fee, but that wasn’t possible either."

He complained, "Whether the hair was fabricated or actually from our staff, putting aside the cost of the food, I didn’t even get the food cost and had to pay the collection dispatch fee. I had to spend my own money to take back the customer’s trash and dispose of it. No matter how much they think about the consumer, isn’t this too much for the store owners? When I argued, they refused until the end. It’s just ridiculous."

In conclusion, he wrote, "The customer refused multiple calls and, after getting the refund, seems to just ignore the situation. People running self-employed businesses shouldn’t be treated like this. The customer is king? Sorry, but don’t be mistaken. You are not the customer."

Netizens responded with comments such as, "Amazing to eat everything and then ask for a refund," "This is the worst kind of troublemaker," "This is a well-known scam; measures are needed," "The hair claim is probably a lie," "Sending back trash too? Is this really Korea?" and "We need a blacklist function."
