Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 13th that it will expand the operation of the "Jeonse Fraud Guardians," which designated one brokerage office in each of the 15 neighborhoods to prevent Jeonse fraud damage, to two guardians per administrative neighborhood for proactive response.
The district plans to minimize damage through prevention activities based on public-private cooperation by selecting brokerage offices recommended by the Korea Association of Realtors Dongjak-gu branch as guardians. The Jeonse Fraud Guardians are responsible for ▲consultations on Jeonse and monthly rent in their jurisdiction ▲investigating Jeonse price trends and damage occurrences ▲creating and managing lists of suspicious real estate related to Jeonse fraud, and disseminating trends.
The district attached designated stickers to the offices selected as Jeonse Fraud Guardians and published the list of offices on the Dongjak-gu Office website so that anyone can easily verify them. Previously, the district formed a "Special Investigation Task Force (TF) for Multi-Housing Damage Prevention," consisting of 30 Jeonse Fraud Guardians as well as staff from the Real Estate Information Division and Architecture Division, establishing a public-private cooperation system.
The district operates the special investigation task force with two investigation teams and one support team to systematically respond to Jeonse accidents and plans to strengthen collaboration among related organizations such as the Korea Association of Realtors, Seoul Civil Life Judicial Police Unit, and Dongjak Police Station.
The special investigation task force continuously monitors trends of multi-housing Jeonse accident risk buildings in the district, enhances promotional activities for preventing Jeonse accident damage, and pursues multifaceted response measures including administrative actions against violations of the Building Act such as illegal use changes.
Mayor Park Il-ha said, "Through Dongjak-gu’s special response plan to prevent Jeonse fraud damage, we will protect the property rights of residents and create a safe residential environment," adding, "We will continue to develop various policies to achieve zero Jeonse fraud."
