Unification of Certification Standards Previously Managed Separately by Each Factory
Dongkuk Steel is strengthening its ESG management by obtaining integrated certification for the international standards of Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001), and Energy Management System (ISO 50001).
On the 13th, Dongkuk Steel announced that it held the 'ISO 14001·45001·50001 Integrated Certification Award Ceremony' at its headquarters in Ferrum Tower, Jung-gu, Seoul. All of these are officially adopted standard certifications by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Dongkuk Steel unified nine certifications, which were separately managed at individual business sites in Incheon, Pohang, and Dangjin, into a company-wide standard and obtained integrated certification. By managing the three systems in an integrated manner, operational efficiency is improved, and multiple certifications can be obtained through a single audit, resulting in cost savings. From an ESG perspective, it enables the establishment of company-wide goals and integrated management, thereby enhancing the level of operational management.

To acquire this certification, Dongkuk Steel, led by the Safety and Environment Planning Department of the Planning Office, established an integrated internal audit TFT in January this year and conducted company-wide integrated certification after about seven months of optimizing operational processes and internal audits.
Byun Hong-yeol, head of the Planning Office at Dongkuk Steel, said, "By forming a company-wide integrated internal audit organization and conducting evaluations, we were able to achieve an upward leveling effect across all business sites." He added, "In the future, all Dongkuk Steel business sites will enhance their capabilities in environmental, occupational health and safety, and energy management under the same goals and direction, and we plan to consider rewards for outstanding business sites."
