The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (hereinafter KTO) announced on the 12th that they will hold the ‘K-Drama Spotlight’ exhibition at Gallery Gwanghwa in Jongno-gu, Seoul, for three months from the 12th to November 12.

This exhibition was planned to provide visitors with a new Hallyu tourism experience by combining technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) with various themes from popular domestic dramas.

Visitors can enjoy a special experience composed of 12 themes, starting with standing on the red carpet photo line as the lead actor, visiting drama filming locations and interactive photo zones, and creating AI avatars applying the images of drama lead actors.

At the opening ceremony held that day, Song Geonhee, an actor from the hit drama ‘Seonjae Eopgo Twieo,’ attended. Song Geonhee also appeared in the VR video produced for this exhibition, showcasing daily life experiences such as eating ramen by the Han River and a cafe tour in Sinheung Market, Haebangchon.

Additionally, KTO provides tourism information about drama filming locations using popular K-drama IPs such as ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo,’ ‘The Glory,’ and ‘King the Land.’ Visitors can explore various Hallyu tourist spots including Baekinje House in Seoul, Sonocam Jeju Heart Tree, and Jungang Park in Cheongju.

The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (until 8 p.m. on Saturdays). Anyone can visit for free without a separate reservation, and visitors who complete hidden mission games throughout the exhibition can receive commemorative souvenirs.

Yoo Jin-ho, Head of the Tourism Content Strategy Division at KTO, said, "We wanted to showcase various attempts at content tourism by utilizing new technologies in dramas, which are representative Hallyu content," adding, "We will continue to discover attractive content that can lead interest in Hallyu to tourism demand and strive to attract more visitors to Korea."
