"It's so hot I could die"…The man who climbed the Eiffel Tower bare-chested shouted these words

Climbing the Eiffel Tower Without Safety Equipment

A man who climbed the Eiffel Tower barehanded was arrested ahead of the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to CNN on the 11th (local time), around 2:45 p.m. on the same day, about six hours before the Olympic closing ceremony, a man climbing the north side of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, without any equipment was apprehended by the police. French police stated, "A person was seen climbing the Eiffel Tower, and officers who were immediately dispatched arrested him."

A video posted on social media shows a shirtless man climbing the Olympic rings and stepping on the iron framework of the Eiffel Tower one by one with his bare hands, without any safety equipment such as ropes. The man, descending the Eiffel Tower with the police, reportedly said to the crowd gathered around, "It's so hot I could die." He also smiled even while being taken away by the police.

This is not the first case of secretly climbing the Eiffel Tower. In August last year, a man who jumped off the Eiffel Tower with a parachute was arrested by local police. At that time, the man climbed the tower's pillar and jumped off with a parachute from the 280m point of the tower around 7 a.m. He then landed at a stadium about 100 meters away from the Eiffel Tower, put the parachute into a bag, hid in the bushes, and was arrested by Paris police. Earlier, in 2019, a man was also caught by police after climbing without safety equipment for six hours.

Meanwhile, the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution during the Paris Exposition. It is a 324-meter-high lattice iron tower named after its designer, French architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel (1832?1923). As a world-renowned architectural structure, it has also become a major target for high-rise climbers.
