A controversy has arisen after a resident claimed that fire-fighting water was drawn from a fire hydrant in an apartment complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to fill a water play area.

On the 10th, JTBC's 'Incident Commander' introduced the story of resident A, who lives in an apartment in Songpa-gu.

According to A, a water play event for children was held inside the apartment complex on the 3rd. Four pools were set up for the event, ranging from large to small pools.

However, the issue surfaced when a resident witnessed the water play area connected to a 'fire-fighting water supply.' The hose filling the pools was connected to a nearby fire hydrant, and the hose appeared swollen as if water was being supplied.

Eventually, the residents reported the matter to the fire station and filed a complaint through the National Petition System.

One resident who filed the complaint explained, "We received a response stating that according to Seoul's water ordinance, 'private fire-fighting water supply facilities cannot be used for purposes other than fire-fighting or fire drills,' and that a legal action would be taken for violation."

Another resident claimed, "Today, the Gangdong Waterworks Office came to the apartment to inspect, and they said a fine would be imposed within this month."

Additionally, another resident pointed out, "There was a major fire in the apartment last year, so the unauthorized use of fire-fighting water itself is a problem."

The apartment management office refuted the claims to the media, stating, "The residents' claims are not true." The management office explained, "We did not use the fire hydrant. At first, we used a small amount unknowingly, but the fire station arrived and instructed us to stop. We immediately stopped and then called a water truck to use water."

Netizens responded to the story with various comments such as, "If you called a water truck, boldly show the receipt," "Does it make sense to say you used it unknowingly?" "Waste of maintenance fees," and "Kudos to the residents who reported it."
