The Future of Busan Envisioned by the Young Generation... 'Busan Global Hub City Youth Hackathon' Held

From the 12th to 13th, a Platform for Youth to Share the Vision of a 'Global Hub City' and Directly Envision the Future

Mayor Park Hyungjun: "We Will Create Opportunities to Share Future Visions and Policy Ideas with Youth and Citizens"

Busan Metropolitan City, in collaboration with KNN, will host the 'Busan Global Hub City Youth Hackathon' at the Busan Youth Center from the 12th to the 13th, running overnight without a break, under the theme of 'Ideas and Policy Proposals to Develop Busan as a Global Hub City.'


The hackathon is an event that combines 'hacking' and 'marathon,' where participants generate ideas and complete business models within a limited timeframe.


This competition is designed to allow young people to directly shape the future of Busan and propose creative and innovative ideas for transforming Busan into a 'global hub city.'


For this event, the city selected a total of 18 teams, comprising more than 80 university and graduate students with diverse majors and interests.


A total of 34 teams applied for the competition, demonstrating the strong interest and commitment of the younger generation toward the vision of 'Global Hub City Busan.'


The selected participants will choose one of six fields?'global logistics city,' 'global financial city,' 'global digital and advanced industry city,' 'global education city,' 'global design city,' or 'global culture and tourism city'?and make policy proposals accordingly.


The event will include lectures on 'Global Hub City Busan,' team networking sessions, and topic-specific mentoring programs. Afterwards, teams will participate in three rounds of intensive marathon discussions (hackathons) to further develop and refine their policy ideas.


Notably, Mayor Park Hyungjun will personally present his vision for 'Global Hub City Busan,' and a mentoring program led by field experts will help enhance the quality of the participants' innovative ideas, leading to highly refined policy proposals.


On the second day of the event, each team will give a final presentation, after which outstanding teams will be selected through a judging process.


The awards will include: one Grand Prize team (certificate and prize money of 2 million KRW), one Excellence Award team (certificate and prize money of 1.5 million KRW), one Merit Award team (certificate and prize money of 1 million KRW), and two Outstanding Team Member Awards (certificate and prize money of 500,000 KRW each).


Mayor Park Hyungjun stated, "Listening to and communicating with young people to hear their creative ideas for 'Global Hub City Busan' is more important than anything else," adding, "We will continue to provide various platforms for communication where young people and citizens can envision Busan's future and propose policy ideas. I will also do my utmost to ensure that the 'Special Act on Global Hub City' swiftly passes the National Assembly," urging citizens for their continued participation and interest.
