U+ Diagnostic Center Users Increase 7 Times Compared to June
Complete Deletion of Used Phone Data... Supporting Safe Transactions
LG Uplus is expanding its 'Our Neighborhood Used Phone Diagnosis Center (U+ Diagnosis Center)' to 100 locations nationwide by the end of this month. Through this, the company plans to create an environment where customers can trade used phones with confidence.
Since May, LG Uplus has been operating the U+ Diagnosis Center in partnership with 'Blancco Korea,' a data deletion service provider, to safely and completely erase data stored on used phones. Blancco Korea's data deletion solution is used by well-known global big tech companies to protect customer data. This solution is also used by official repair centers of major phone manufacturers to delete data before selling refurbished products.
Earlier, LG Uplus conducted a pilot service for two months starting in February through a partnership with the used trading platform 'Danggeun,' confirming customer demand for data deletion. Since then, the usage rate of the regular data deletion service, U+ Diagnosis Center, has also been rapidly increasing.
Compared to the first month of its launch in May, the number of users at the end of last month increased 12-fold in two months, and even compared to June, it increased sevenfold. This is analyzed as an effect of the growing demand for complete data deletion on used phones as the volume of used phone transactions increases.
LG Uplus is expanding the number of stores offering the U+ Diagnosis Center service. After starting the regular service at 22 stores in May, the number expanded to 63 stores mainly in the metropolitan area and major metropolitan cities as of the end of June. The company plans to further expand to 100 stores nationwide by the end of this month to help more customers avoid concerns about personal information leakage when trading used phones.
LG Uplus plans to continue expanding channels for safe used phone transactions. Hyunseung Lee, Head of Omni-channel CX at LG Uplus (Senior Vice President), said, "We will ensure that the U+ Diagnosis Center provides customers with a differentiated peer-to-peer used phone trading experience."
