At around 2:26 PM on the 10th, a man in his 60s, Mr. A, lost consciousness and drowned while playing in the water at Gyeokpo Beach in Buan-gun, Jeonbuk.
According to the Buan Coast Guard, at around 1:50 PM that day, a report was received that someone had fallen into the water at Gyeokpo Beach in Buan-gun and that a beach safety officer was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

At the time, Mr. A (69) appeared to be swimming on his back, but when his head was submerged underwater, a nearby beachgoer found this suspicious and pulled him ashore. The water safety officer performed CPR on Mr. A, who was in cardiac arrest, but he could not be revived.
The Coast Guard rescue team and 119 emergency medical team, who arrived after the report, provided emergency treatment and transported Mr. A to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately passed away.
The Coast Guard and fire authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning Mr. A’s family who visited the beach with him and witnesses.
