President Yoon Suk-yeol spent the last day of his 4-night, 5-day summer vacation at Gyeryongdae in Chungnam. President Yoon emphasized, "We have complete trust in our military" and stated, "As the Commander-in-Chief, I will do my best to ensure that the soldiers can fully focus on their duties by providing the necessary conditions."
According to a written briefing by Presidential Spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon on the same day, President Yoon stayed at Gyeryongdae on the 8th and 9th to encourage Army and Air Force soldiers and to inspect the security posture. This was the third time President Yoon visited Gyeryongdae, where the headquarters of the Army, Navy, and Air Force are located.
On the morning of that day, President Yoon visited the Gyeryongdae War Command Facility (U-3) to check the preparation status for the 2024 Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) exercise. After receiving a report on the facility status, he toured key areas with the chiefs of staff of the three military branches. President Yoon said, "It is reassuring that all facilities and equipment within the command post are maintained in a state ready to carry out missions at any time."
President Yoon then moved to the combat control room and received a briefing on the UFS exercise preparations with the three chiefs of staff present. He shook hands with all the soldiers attending and took commemorative photos with the slogan, "We protect the Republic of Korea."

President Yoon emphasized, "Security is the economy, and economic prosperity guarantees freedom," adding, "Only a strong security posture can protect our freedom and prosperity. We can never maintain peace by relying on the goodwill of the enemy."
He further pointed out, "We are facing the most irrational threat from North Korea in the world," and said, "North Korea has legalized a nuclear preemptive strike and is constantly targeting our Republic of Korea by attacking GPS and even sending trash balloons to our people."
On the previous afternoon and evening, he had tea and dinner with Air Force F-35A and F-15K pilots and maintenance officers, as well as Army Special Forces special operations and high-altitude specialists. At this gathering, a Navy commander reportedly said, "The President seems not to have rested well during his vacation as he keeps encouraging the soldiers and even takes short naps," and expressed deep gratitude for the President’s support of the troops. President Yoon responded with affection, saying, "Spending my vacation with the military is my real vacation."
An Air Force commander said, "Hearing the President’s words and his choked voice during the West Sea skirmish and the Cheonan event showed both strength and warmth," and expressed gratitude for his genuine care for the soldiers. Additionally, an Air Force lieutenant colonel said, "No previous president has cared so much for the military, military families, and bereaved families," and added, "I will extend the kindness the President has shown to my subordinates," according to the Presidential Office.
President Yoon’s summer vacation concluded with his visit to Gyeryongdae. Earlier, on the 5th, he visited Tongyeong Central Market in Gyeongnam, and on the 6th and 7th, he visited the Jinhae Naval Base, communicating with soldiers, citizens, and merchants. The Presidential Office explained, "This 4-night, 5-day presidential vacation started with market visits and was a 'livelihood and security vacation' that encouraged Army, Navy, and Air Force soldiers and inspected the security posture."
