'Golf Empress' Park In-bee (36) was defeated in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) athlete committee election.
On the 8th (Korean time), the IOC announced the results of the 2024 Paris Olympic athlete committee vote at the main press center of the 2024 Paris Olympics in Paris, France, and Park In-bee's name was not among the four elected members.
Ahead of the Paris Olympics, a total of 29 athlete committee candidates, including Park In-bee, campaigned. Among approximately 10,000 athletes participating in this event, the top four were honored with election.
South Korea had consecutive IOC athlete committee election victories with Moon Dae-sung at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Yoo Seung-min at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, serving eight-year terms.
With Park In-bee's defeat, the number of IOC members of South Korean nationality has decreased to two: Lee Ki-heung, president of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, and Kim Jae-yeol, president of the International Skating Union.
The IOC athlete committee term of Yoo Seung-min, president of the Korea Table Tennis Association, expires at the end of this event.
