"Various Opinions on Financial Investment Tax... Position to Be Announced Soon"
"President Yoon's Unilateral Approach Must Change"
Park Chan-dae, Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a press conference on the morning of the 8th to mark 100 days since his inauguration, stating, "There are all kinds of opinions regarding the Financial Investment Income Tax (금투세), including 'abolition,' 'postponement,' and 'supplementation,'" and added, "There will be a time soon to gather our stance and make an announcement." Meanwhile, he said that the recent legislative deadlock in the National Assembly is the responsibility of the President.
Regarding the '금투세 discussion meeting' proposed by Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, Park responded, "It can take place at an appropriate time." He also said, "The stock market has plunged even though the 금투세 has not yet been implemented, and blaming the 금투세 for this is a typical non sequitur from Leader Han."
On the same day, Park strongly criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol for using his veto power (reconsideration request) 15 times. He said, "The President's 'blind veto exercise' is a rejection of democracy and a declaration of dictatorship, refusing to follow the will of the people. The veto power should be exercised restrictively." He also pointed out, "The President's continuous vetoes of bills passed by the National Assembly are a disregard for legislative authority."

He continued, "In the past 100 days, when the opposition party proposes bills, the ruling party opposes them blindly; when bills pass the National Assembly, the President vetoes them blindly; the National Assembly then re-passes them, but they are ultimately discarded, repeating a vicious cycle," and added, "The root cause lies in President Yoon's one-way approach. To restore politics, especially the President's attitude must change."
Park also stated, "The Democratic Party will soon reintroduce the Marine Corps Special Prosecutor Act," explaining, "This third Special Prosecutor Act will explicitly specify the criminal charges that have emerged so far as subjects of investigation." He further urged, "Since Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, and even within the People Power Party acknowledge the necessity of the Special Prosecutor Act, this time we urge the President and the People Power Party not to oppose it but to accept it."
