Original residents of the Gwangmyeong Hak-on District in Gyeonggi Province will now be able to live in jeonse rental housing.
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) announced on the 8th that it has prepared a housing relocation promotion plan in cooperation with the original residents of the Gwangmyeong Hak-on District and decided to provide jeonse rental housing to 25 households of original residents who have difficulty securing temporary residences until resettlement after the development of the project district. Additionally, as part of livelihood support measures, GH plans to hire original residents for relocation promotion tasks, assigning them to on-site management duties such as vacant house management and crime prevention activities.
The Gwangmyeong Hak-on District is a public housing project covering an area of 684,000 square meters, supplying 4,317 housing units. The project received district plan approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in July 2022 and is being carried out with the aim of stabilizing housing for low-income residents and creating a residential complex as a hinterland for the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Techno Valley.
Kim Se-yong, president of GH, stated, "We will continue to actively implement practical livelihood support measures such as employment support and temporary housing supply for original residents within new project districts," adding, "We will continuously seek ways to cooperate and coexist with the local community."
