Scholarship Awarded for Paris Olympics Gold Medal Achievement

Comprehensive food company Ourhome has awarded a scholarship to Ban Hyojin (17, Daegu Physical Education High School), the gold medalist in the women's 10m air rifle shooting event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ban Hyojin's mother is a long-term employee who has worked at Ourhome for about 10 years.

On the 8th, Ourhome announced that it delivered the scholarship for Ban Hyojin, the youngest gold medalist in shooting, through her mother, Lee Jeongseon. On the 5th, Ourhome invited Ban Hyojin’s mother to its headquarters in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, to present the scholarship. At the scholarship award ceremony, executives including Lee Young-yeol, Vice Chairman of Ourhome, and Lee Young-pyo, President of Ourhome’s Management Division, handed over the scholarship and had a conversation with Ms. Lee. The executives expressed their gratitude for her long-term service and listened to any difficulties related to her working environment.


According to the company, Ourhome employees also extended their congratulations to Ms. Lee. On the company intranet bulletin board, responses such as “Sincere congratulations to Ban Hyojin, who made history for South Korea,” and “Ms. Lee Jeongseon is always a reliable colleague who does her best at work” were posted.

On the 29th of last month (Korean time), Ban Hyojin won the gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle individual event at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the Ch?teauroux Shooting Center in France after a close contest with Huang Weiting (China). Ban Hyojin is also the winner of South Korea’s 100th gold medal in the history of the Summer Olympics.


Thanks to Ban Hyojin’s performance in this Olympics, improvements to the Daegu International Shooting Range facilities are expected to continue. On the 5th, Daegu City officially began improving the facilities at the Daegu International Shooting Range located in Geumho-dong, Buk-gu. The city plans to check the compliance with facility standards required for hosting various international competitions and the insufficient convenience facilities for the disabled, and proceed with facility improvements. The city has identified that about 19 billion KRW is needed for facility upgrades and plans to request the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other related government agencies for support.


At that time, Deputy Mayor Kim Seonjo visited the site and said, “If facilities meeting international standards and convenience facilities for the disabled are supplemented, we expect to attract various shooting competitions such as the 2027 World Shooting Championships and the 2030 World Para Shooting Championships, contributing to the expansion of shooting sports infrastructure for citizens.” Earlier, Daegu Mayor Hong Junpyo congratulated Ban Hyojin on her gold medal achievement and stated, “We will prepare to improve the Daegu International Shooting Range facilities to attract world-class competitions.”
